News - 4 Rohingyas held in Bandarban
Bandarban, June 16 (UNB) – Four Rohingyas, who had been here since long, were arrested from Raisa in Sadar upazila on Friday night.

The arrested were identified as Nur Hossain, 18, Hamid Hossain, 25, Nabi Hossain, 25, and Mohammad Hasan. They all hailed from Basidong in Akiab of Arakan, Myanmar.

Police said they will produce the arrested before a local court tomorrow (Sunday).

Another report from Cox’s Bazar says: Country representative United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) Craig Sanders visited the district this (Saturday) afternoon to see the border situation.

The visit of Craig came in the wake of media report on influx of refugees into Bangladesh from Myanmar following outbreak of sectarian violence in Myanmar on Friday.

Talking to journalists at Shahpuri Dwip Jetty in Teknaf upazila, Sanders said Rohingya issue is an internal matter of Myanmar and they should solve their own problem. “But it takes time to solve the problem”.

Sanders said Rohingyas had also crossed border and entered Bangladesh in the past, and the people of Bangladesh accepted them with sympathy. “UNHCR was aware of that.”
