
Dhaka, June 17 (UNB) – The government has taken an initiative to set up an Islamic Arabic Affiliating University to run the country’s Fazil and Kamil madrasahs as their affiliating authority.
The Education Ministry organised a meeting at its conference hall on Sunday to finalise the draft law of the proposed university.
Chaired by Education Minister Nurul Islam Nahid, the meeting was attended, among others, by Education secretary Dr Kamal Abdul Naser Chowdhury, vice chancellor of Dhaka University AASM Arefin Siddique, vice chancellor of National University Prof Dr Kazi Shahidullah, member of University Grant Commission Mahabbat Khan, editor of the Daily Inqilab AMM Bahauddin and additional secretary of Education Ministry Kazi Salauddin Akbar.
The meeting constituted two committees led by vice chancellor of the National University Prof Dr Kazi Shahidullah and additional secretary of Education Ministry to give their recommendations on the proposed law.
The first committee was asked to submit its report within the next seven working days while the second committee within the next 10 working days.
