
Chittagong, June 17 (UNB) – A court here on Sunday extended bail until June 20 to 11 leaders and activists of BNP and its associate bodies in a vehicle torching case.
Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Abdur Rahman passed the order when the accused surrendered before his court seeking bail.
Those got bail extension include general secretary of district (North) unit of the main opposition Aslam Chowdhury, former president of city unit of Jubo Dal Abul Hashem Bakkar and activist Sheikh Russell.
Quamrul Islam Sajjad, a counsellor for the BNP men, said Aslam secured bail from the High Court while others from the lower court.
Six cases -- four with Kotwali Police Station and the two with Khulshi Police Station -- were filed against 2,100 BNP-Jamaat men in connection with a clash between the activists of the BNP-led 18-party alliance and police during an alliance rally in the city on May 13.
