News - 2 killed in Bagerhat road crash
Bagerhat, June 18 (UNB) - Two people were killed and 15 others injured as a bus overturned after hitting railings of a bridge and a rickshaw on Pirojpur-Bagerhat road at Dashkhali area in Morelganj upazila  on Monday morning.

The deceased were:  Dinesh Das, rickshaw passenger of Hoglapasha village in Morelganj upazila and bus supervisor Hamidul of Fakirhat upazila.

Witnesses said the Dhaka-bound bus of ‘Baleshwar Paribahan’ from Pirojpur dashed the railings of a bailey bridge as its driver lost control over steering   and then turned turtle on the road after hitting a rickshaw at about 10 am, leaving the two men dead on the spot.

Among the injured, four were rushed to Khulna Medical College Hospital in critical condition while others were admitted to different hospitals in Bagerhat and Pirojpur.

Angered by the incident, locals put up barricade on the road disrupting traffic movement for about two hours. Several hundred vehicles were stranded on both sides of the road following the road blockade.

Being informed police rushed in and brought the situation under control. They sent the bodies to hospital for autopsy.
