Satkhira, June 18 (UNB) – India`s Border Security Force (BSF) intruded into Bangladesh and kidnapped a cattle trader at Taluigachha border in sadar upazila on Monday morning.

The captive was identified as Alamgir Hossain, 32, son of Ozihar Rahman of Taluigachha village.

Commander of Satkhira 38 BGB Lieutenant Colonel Abu Basir said inmates of India`s Kaizuri BSF camp illegally entered Bangladesh and captured Alamgir when he was returning to his home from border area.

Being informed, BGB sent a letter to BSF requesting them to attend a flag meeting over the matter today.

The flag meeting was held from 2 pm to 2:45 pm where BGB was informed that the Bangladeshi cattle trader was admitted to Indian hospital under the supervision of BSF and he would be returned after his release from hospital.

In separate incident, a BGB patrol team of Jhoudanga camp challenged a gang of smugglers, triggering a clash which left a border guard injured at Alaipur border in Kolaroa upazila.

BGB sources said a gang of 60-70 smugglers along with Indian contraband cloth sneaked into Bangladesh illegally crossing Alaipur frontier early in the morning.

A patrol team of Jhoudanga camp challenged them which angered the gangsters who swooped on the border guards with sharp weapons and hurled brick bats at them leaving BGB jawan Sirajul Islam severely injured.

BGB fired a couple of warning shots to disperse the gangsters. BGB also seized the cloth and brought those to Jhoudanga camp.

In the meantime the gangsters regrouped and attacked Jhoudanga camp and snatched away the seized Indian cloth from the border guards.

Satkhira 38 BGB deputy battalion commander Major SNM Samiunnabi Chowdhury said the smugglers also injured Jhaudanga BGB Company Commander Juwel Mia during their attack on the camp.

Later BGB recovered a motorcycle in an abandoned condition used by the smugglers.

BGB also filed a case accusing over 100 people with Kolaroa Police Station in this connection.
