Train-CNG auto-rickshaw collision leaves 2 killed in Habiganj

Habiganj, June 18 (UNB) – At least two auto-rickshaw passengers were killed and three injured as a train rammed the three-wheeler at Laskarpur level-crossing on Dhaka-Sylhet highway in Bahubal on Monday evening.

The dead are: Abdul Mukit, 60, former manager of Bahubal upazila branch of Uttara Bank Ltd and auto-rickshaw driver Mostafa Mia, 35, of Rautgaon village of the upazila.

Highway police quoting witnesses said Sylhet-bound inter-city `Parabat Express` train from Dhaka hit the CNG-run auto-rickshaw leaving its passenger Abdul Mukit dead on the spot and four other injured in the evening.

The injured were rushed to Habiganj Hospital where Mostafa Mia died at night.
