32 opposition activists denied bail

Thakurgaon, June 19 (UNB) – A court here on Tuesday sent 32  opposition activists to jail after rejecting their bail petitions in a case filed for vandalism.

Chief Judicial Magistrate Masud Pervez turned down their bail petitions when they appeared before the court seeking their bail.

Activists of Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal (JCD) and Jubo Dal damaged several banks, insurance offices, shops and vehicles here on May 16 while protesting denial of bail to 33 BNP central leaders, including BNP acting secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir.
   
Sub-inspector Mijanur Rahman filed a case accusing 40 people in connection with the incident.

Police later submitted a charge sheet with court against 39 leaders and workers of JCD and Jubo Dal.  

Of the accused, 32 appeared before the court today seeking their bail.
