Youngman accused of murder, abduction held

Rajbari, June 21 (UNB) - Police arrested a young man, accused of killing a sexagenarian woman and also abducting a child in Goalundo, from a house in Manikganj district town on Wednesday.

The arrested was identified as Rasel Mia, 27, son of Wahab Mia of Natunpara village in Goalando upazila.

Sub-Inspector Firoz Ahmed of Goalando Ghat Police Station said that on secret information, they arrested Rasel from Manikganj town at about 9 am on Wednesday.

SI Firoz said they later produced Rasel to the Chief Judicial Magistrate court in Rajbari, where he confessed to his crimes.

According to the police case, Rasel strangled to death a sexagenarian woman, Halimunnessa, 60, on February 19 this year. Later, he abducted 2-year-old Emran alias Emu, grandson of Halimunnessa from the house, and went into hiding.

A case was filed in this connection with Goalando police station.
