3 women electrocuted in C’nawabganj

Chapainawabganj, June 23 (UNB) – Three women died from electrocution at Dhobra village in Shibganj upazila on Saturday morning.

The deceased were identified as Rokeya Begum, 55, wife of Mahidur, Shonali Begum, 36, wife of Ahsan and daughter in-law of Rokeya Begum and Rumali Begum, 50, wife of Abu Sayed of the village.

Locals said at first Rokeya and Shonali came in contact with a live electrical wire at their house at about 8:30 am.

Hearing their screams Rumali, a neighbour, came to the spot and also got electrocuted as she tried to save them. On information, police recovered the bodies and sent those to hospital morgue for autopsy.

A pall of gloom descended over the area following the tragic deaths of the three women.
