Jhenidah, June 23 (UNB) - Three police personnel were injured in an attack by drug peddlers at Lebutala in Moheshpur upazila on Friday evening.

A team of police comprising Sub-inspector (SI) Anwar Hossain, SI Milon Hossain, constables Pikul and Monir raided Lebutala-Matila for nabbing drug peddlers.

During the raid, police arrested phensidyl trader Rabiul Islam.

Angered by the arrest, other drug peddlers attacked police and snatched the arrested from them.

They also beat up policemen and confined them.

At one stage, constable Pikul managed to come out and informed the matter to BGB and Moheshpur thana.

Receiving information, a team led by company commander Abdul Jalil of Zadobpur BGB camp went to the spot and rescued the policemen from the drug peddlers.

The injured--SI Anwar Hossain, SI Milon Hossain and constable Monir—were admitted to thana health complex.
