
Dhaka, Jun 23 (UNB) - Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on Saturday night directed the authorities concerned to form a committee to resolve the labour unrest in RMG industrial belts Ashulia and Kachpur.
The Prime Minister ordered that the committee be formed comprising workers and employers under the supervision of the Labour and Employment Ministry to identify the reasons behind the crisis and recommend suggestions to resolve it.
Hasina gave the directives when leaders of the Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FBCCI), Bangladesh Garments Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA), Bangladesh Knitwear Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BKMEA) and Bangladesh Textile Mills Associations (BTMEA) met her at her official residence Ganobhaban.
After the meeting, PM’s deputy press secretary Bijan Lal Dev briefed reporters.
He said the Prime Minister also asked the authorities concerned to examine the issue of increasing house rent of the garment workers thrice in a year in Ashulia area.
The business leaders apprised the Prime Minister of the latest situation in the garment industries in Ashulia and Kachpur.
