Motivate people to pay tax: Speaker to income taxes lawyers

Dhaka, June 23 (UNB) – Income taxes lawyers can play important role in motivating people to pay tax.

Speaker Abdul Hamid Advocate expressed the opinion while addressing as the chief guest the newly-elected leaders and executives of Dhaka Taxes Bar Association (DTBA) at city`s Osmani Memorial Auditorium on Saturday.

The taxes lawyers elected the DTBA executive committee for a one year term for 2012-2013 recently.

Addressing them Speaker Abdul Hamid said income taxes lawyers involved with revenue management network can also play a vital role in increasing direct tax payment.

The speaker said the main task of the parliament is to make law and the lawyers formulate laws.

He urged the lawyers to serve the people as their lawyers vis a vis working to formulate the laws of the land.

Before addressing the audience the speakers gave away crests to the DTBA executives.

Chaired by newly-elected DTBA president Zillur Rahman, the function was addressed, among others, by Advocate Syed Rezaur Rahman, Advocate Shah Jikrul Ahmed, MP, and A K Nesar Uddin, an official release said.
