Dhaka, June 24 (UNB) – Education Minister Nurul Islam Nahid on Sunday urged the teachers to be more responsible in performing their duties as it is essential for the development of the country’s education.
“Teaching is not mere a job, it’s a commitment… people deeply respect this profession. So, the teachers must work hard to build our new generation with moral values and the spirit of patriotism,” he told the inaugural session of a training workshop at National Academy of Education Management (NAEM) in the city.

“We’ve arranged about 11 lakh additional classes in around 1621 schools of 122 upazilas. These students fared well in English and Mathematics in the SSC examinations, showing an 87 percent success rate,” he said.
Nahid said 800 trained teachers also take special classes on English and Mathematic in 400 schools, and the students of these schools are expected to fare well this year, too.
Chaired by SEQAEP director M Shahid Bakhtiar Alam, the session was address, among others, by SEQAEP deputy director Prof M Zulfiker Ali and national consultant Dr Selina Akhter Jahan.
