Sylhet, June 25 (UNB) – A student of Jamia Kasimul Ulum Dargah-e Hazrat Shahjalal (R) was slaughtered allegedly by his friend at the hostel of the institution in the city early today (Monday).

The victim was identified as Amir Abbas, 18, son of Abdus Salam of Bhadertek village in Bishwmvarpur upazila of Sunamganj district.

Officer-in-charge of Kotwali Police Station Ataur Rahman said Amir and his friend Shah Saifur Rahman, both Hifz students of the madrash, used to stay at Room-16 of the hostel.

Saifur, 20 son of Shah Matiur Rahman of Galmukapan village under Osmaninagar Police Station in the district, allegedly slaughtered Amir at about 4 am, the OC said, adding that he went into hiding just after the incident.

Police recovered the body at about 10 am and sent it to Sylhet MAG Osmani Medical College Hospital morgue for autopsy.
