Dhaka, Nov 5 (UNB) - President Zillur Rahman leaves for Turkey tomorrow (Friday) on a six-day tour to attend COMCEC economic summit under the Organization of the Islamic Conference (OIC).

The COMCEC Economic Summit, being held in Istanbul in marking the commercial bloc’s 25th founding anniversary, begins on November 9. The function will be chaired by COMCEC Chairman and Turkish President Abdullah Gul.

The president is expected to reach Istanbul on November 7 via Dubai. He is scheduled to visit the shrine of Hazrat Eyup Sultan Ansari (rm) and the Topkapı Palace museum on November 8.

Besides delivering his address at the COMCEC summit on November 9, President Zillur Rahman is scheduled to hold bilateral meetings with heads of state and government of Turkey and Jordan.

The Standing Committee for Economic and Commercial Cooperation of OIC has invited the President to attend the summit meet which will be attended by heads of the member-states of OIC.

COMCEC meetings are traditionally held with the participation of the ministers of the OIC member-states in charge of economy and trade. This year, in commemoration of its 25th anniversary, the COMCEC session will be crowned with an economic summit which will be participated by a number of heads of state for the first time.

President Zillur is scheduled to return home on November 11.
