Dhaka, June 25 (UNB) - Around 80,000 land-phone connections which got disconnected after a fire broke out at Sher-e-Bangla Nagar Telephone Bhaban in the city on Monday morning were being restored.

The fire that broke out at the Bangladesh Telecommunications Ltd (BTCL) office at around 5am was doused at around 6:30am by Fire Service men, said a BTCL release.

Most of the telephone lines were restored phase-wise after controlling the fire. Rest of the lines, about 3000, will be restored by Tuesday, the release added.

A five-member committee headed by a chief executive was formed to investigate the cause and losses caused by the fire.
The committee was asked to submit its report within 72 hours.
