News - Water logging in Ctg: Badal demands judicial probe body
Dhaka, June 27 (UNB) – JSD leader Mainuddin Khan Badal on Wednesday demanded formation of a judicial enquiry committee regarding the water logging in port city Chittagong.

“Years after years are going, but there is no solution of water logging in Chittagong,” he said in Parliament rising on a point of order.

Describing the recent deplorable situation in the port city, the JSD lawmaker said he had talk with the Food and Disaster Management Minister in this connection. “The Minister told me he has already sent money and other items to Chittagong. But the people did not get anything.”

He came down heavily on the Deputy Commissioner of Chittagong for his “laziness” to start the relief activities. “Is everything will go as per his desire when the Honorable DC will arrive, not at our choice? I’m the elected public representative of the area, but the DC has not informed me anything so far,” Badal said.

He also said that relief is such a material which has to be distributed in the right time and at the right place. “If you fail to do so there is no need of relief then.”

Regarding the water logging of the port city, the JSD leader said experts are working on the issue for years, but so far there is no solution. “We only hear about the experts. Who are these experts, where are they now? I want a judicial enquiry committee in this regard,” he said.

Independent lawmaker Fazlul Azim (Noakhali) said the DCs of the country are just ‘Laat Saheb’ and they will not go to see the woes of the common people.

He also demanded immediate distribution of relief materials to mitigate the sufferings of the people in the port city.
