Dhaka, June 27 (UNB) – Taking a swipe at Jatiya Samajtantrik Dal (JSD) president Hasanul Huq Inu for asking BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia to be minus from politics, BNP senior leader Abdullah Al Noman on Wednesday said his remarks were conspiratorial and audacious.
Addressing a human chain programme in front of the National Press Club, Noman asked Inu to withdraw his remarks, or else, he said, “People will put you (Inu) on trial and we’ll be there with them.”
Swadhinata Forum, a pro-opposition platform, orgainsed the programme protesting the ‘disparaging’ remarks about Khaleda Zia.
On Monday, Inu reportedly urged the opposition leader to shun Jamaat-e-Islami to secure democracy, saying that otherwise she might be minus from politics.
Taking part in budget discussions in Parliament, he also said Khaleda Zia should come up with an alternative proposal on the caretaker government issue if she wants election. “Election is not her agenda; she is looking at another direction. She is deliberately keeping the uncertainty alive.”
Reacting to Inu’s remarks, Noman said his comments about the opposition leader were contrary to political norms and parliamentary politics. “In politics this is the langue of arms. We want to know on which context he (Inu) made the remarks.”
