2 varsity students killed in Jhenidah road crash

Jhenidah, June 29 (UNB) – Two varsity students were crushed under the wheels of a bus  on Jhenidah-Jessore highway at Karaitala in the district town on Friday morning.

The deceased were identified as Swadhinur Rahman Swadhin, 26, son of Moslem Uddin of Dulalmandia village and Milon Hossain, 27, son of Abdur Razzak of Khamarmandia village of Kaliganj upazila.

Both of them were students of Open University.

Sadar thana OC Iqbal Bahar Cowdhury said when the duo were going to the district town a Kushtia-bound bus from Khulna of Rupsa Paribahan hit their motorbike at about 10:30am, leaving them dead on the spot.

On information police recovered the bodies and sent those to Sadar hospital morgue for autopsy.

Outraged by the accident, local people blocked the highway, disrupting traffic on the road for three hours.

They also vandalized 6/7 vehicles.

Later police rushed to the spot and controlled the situation.

A case was filed.
