Dhaka, June 29 (UNB) – BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia goes to Chittagong on Saturday morning to visit the disaster-stricken areas of the district and distribute relief materials among the affected people.

Over a hundred people were killed and many others injured in rain-induced natural calamites, including hill slide, in Chittagong, Cox’s Bazar and Bandarban in the last few days.

Besides, several lakh people in Chittagong and Feni remained marooned due to ceaseless rain for over a week and onrush of waters from hills.

Khaleda, also the leader of the opposition in parliament, is scheduled to start her journey for Chittagong from her Gulshan residence around 8am.

After visiting the disaster hit-areas and distributing relief goods, she will stay overnight in the port city on Saturday.

On her way back to the capital, Khaleda will visit the flood-hit Parshuram and Fulgazi upazilas of Feni district on Sunday. She will also distribute relief goods among the flood victims in the two upazilas.

The BNP chairperson is scheduled to return to Dhaka by Sunday night.
