News - Khaleda reaches Ctg
Chittagong, June 30 (UNB) – BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia reached the port city of Chittagong on Saturday afternoon to visit the disaster-stricken areas of the district and distribute relief materials among the affected people.

Khleda started her journey for Chittagong from her Gulshan residence at about 8:40 am.

The BNP chairperson is already at Akbar Shah Mazar in the city where a landslide left two people killed a few days back.

On her way to the port city of Chittagong, Khaleda‘s convoy slowed down at Sitakunda Bazar at noon and she waved her hands to the people standing along both sides of the highway.

Over a hundred people were killed and many others injured in rain-induced natural calamites, including hill slide, in Chittagong, Cox’s Bazar and Bandarban in the last few days.

Besides, several lakh people in Chittagong and Feni remained marooned due to ceaseless rain for over a week and onrush of waters from hills.

After visiting the disaster hit-areas and distributing relief goods, she will stay overnight in the port city on Saturday.

On her way back to the capital, Khaleda will visit the flood-hit Parshuram and Fulgazi upazilas of Feni district on Sunday. She will also distribute relief materials among the flood victims in the two upazilas.

The BNP chairperson is expected to return to Dhaka by Sunday night.
