
Chittagong, July 1 (UNB) – BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia left the port city for Feni Sunday to visit the flood-affected areas of the district and distribute relief materials among the victims.
Khaleda started her journey for Feni at about 11:55 am.
Khaleda will visit flood-hit Parshuram, Chhagalniya and Fulgazi upazilas of Feni district today.
Prior to leaving the port city she visited Akbar Shah Mazar area where scores of people were killed in recent hill slide.
She went to the area at about 11:25 am and distributed relief among 300 family members of the victims.
Over a hundred people were killed and many others injured in the recent natural calamites, including hill slide, in Chittagong, Cox’s Bazar and Bandarban.
Besides, several lakh people in Chittagong and Feni remained marooned due to ceaseless rain for over a week and onrush of waters from hills.
Khaleda went to Chittagong on Saturday for visiting the disaster hit-areas and distributing relief goods among the victims of the port city. She stayed overnight in the port city.
