2 cases filed against ATN boss in Gopalganj, Pirojpur
Dhaka, July 1 (UNB) – Two cases were filed in Gopalganj and Pirojpur on Sunday against beleaguered ATN Bangla Chairman Mahfuzur Rahman for making derogatory comments about Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.In Gopalganj, Advocate Rabiul Alam filed a Tk 1,000 crore defamation case with Gopalganj Judicial Magistrate Court against the ATN Chairman.
Judge of the court Abu Sayed took cognisance of the case.
According to the case statement, Mahfuzur Rahman maligned the Prime Minister calling her ‘talkative’ in a programme during his recent visit to London on May 30 which tarnished the image of Prime Minister in country as well as in foreign.
“The comments of Mahfuzur Rahman have internationally and politically tarnished the image of the Prime Minister,” the complainant told the court.
In Pirojpur, Foysal Mahmud Shuvo, former President of district unit of Jubo League, filed a case with Pirojpur Senior Judicial Magistrate Court against the ATN Bangla boss.
Judge Chowdhury Mahbubur Rahman took cognisance of the case and ordered the assistant police super (sadar circle) to submit a report to the court after proper investigation.
