15 injured in police-Shibir clash, 10 arrested

Sylhet, July 1 (UNB) – Police arrested 10 activists of Islami Chhatra Shibir following a clash between them, which left 15 people wounded in Chouhatta area in the city on Sunday.

Police said the clash took place in the area at about 5:15 pm as they obstructed a procession brought out by Shibir in the afternoon.

Police lobbed four rounds of tear gas shell, and fired three rounds of bullet in the air to bring the situation under control.

Kotwali thana Sub-Inspector Mobashira Ali said constable Ataur Rahman, Kamrul Islam and Shah Alam were injured during the clash.

Police arrested 12 activists of Shibir from the procession.
