JAKARTA, July 2(AP/UNB) - An Indonesian government official says a civilian pilot training plane has crashed on the country's main Java island, leaving one person dead and two others severely injured.

Transport ministry spokesman Bambang Ervan says the Cessna 172 took off Monday from an airport in central Cirebon district and crashed into a paddy field near a river in the neighboring district of Kuningan. There were three people aboard.

Ervan says a man believed to be an instructor was killed instantly while two female trainees were severely injured. All have been evacuated to hospital.
