News - Kidnapped day-labourer found dead in Bagerhat
Bagerhat, July 3 (UNB) – A day-labourer who was kidnapped in Fakirhat upazila on Saturday was found dead on Monday night.

Police recovered the body of Atiar Rahman, 30, son of Abu Bakar Siddique of Boltali Piljang village, from a ditch near his house.

Police said locals spotted the body of Atiar at night and informed them.

Later, the law enforcers recovered the body at about 8 pm on Monday and sent it to Sadar Hospital morgue for autopsy on Tuesday morning.

The legs and hands of the victim were tied and there were marks of injury on the body.

Confirming the incident, officer-in-charge of Fakirhat Police Station M Liakat Hossain said miscreants might have killed Atiar after kidnapping him and dumped the body in the ditch.

Victim’s wife Maleka Begum said Atiar went out of his house on Saturday evening and remained missing since then.

The motive behind the murder could not be ascertained yet.

A case was filed in this connection.
