Dhaka, July 3 (UNB) - Bangladesh Noujan Sramik Federation will go for an indefinite work abstention from the midnight of July 8 to press home its 16-point demand, including re-fixation of wage structure of the river vessel workers.

Leaders of the organization announced this while addressing a press conference at Dhaka Reporters Unity (DRU) on Tuesday.

They said that the workers of launch, cargo, coaster tanker, bulkhead, barge, cello tanker and other private river vessels will observe the programme across the country.

Senior vice president of the Federation Shah Alam, vice president Zinnat Ali Driver, general secretary Chowdhury Ashiqul Alam, Lighterage Workers Union president and joint general secretary of the Federation Abu Taher, among others, addressed on the occasion.

The demands include giving appointment letter and Service Book to each worker, introduction of contributory provident fund through Trusty Board, ensuring security in the river route, withdrawal of cases filed against workers and giving double wages for extra-duty.
