Chittagong, July 4 (UNB) - Members of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) arrested three people and recovered arms and bullets at Purba Khilmughal village in Rangunia upazila on Wednesday.

The arrested were identified as Nurunnabi, 40, Jashim Uddin, 26 and Mahmudul Karim, 26.

Being informed, a team of RAB positioned themselves in the area near the house of one Akbar Ali of the village around 1:30am.

At about 4am, they found that four people including all the three accused came to the house of Akbar to keep a bag on the premises of his house.

RAB members instantly chased them and managed to arrest the three people.

However, Abdul Khalek, one of their associates managed to flee away.

A gun and four rounds of bullet were recovered from the bag, RAB said.

Later, they confessed that they had brought the arms to Akbar’s house in order to falsely implicate him in a case over previous enmity.

A case was filed with Rangunia thana under the Arms Act in this connection.
