Dhaka, July 4 (UNB) - BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia on Wednesday attended a Munajat at her Gulshan office marking the end to a month-long prayer programme seeking divine blessings for peace and progress of the country and the Muslim Ummah.

As part of the prayer programme taken by the party, many Islamic scholars of different mosques, madrasahs and orphanages in the capital, recited the holy Quarn, performed various prayers after Asar prayers every day during the last one month.

The programme concluded through a Munajat that began at about 9:15pm on Wednesday. Ulema Dal President M A Malek conducted the Munajat.

The former premier, her advisers, BNP acting secretary general, standing committee members and senior leaders of the party and its front organisations joined the Munajat and prayed for the progress of the country and the Muslim Ummah.

Khaleda, also the leader of the opposition in parliament, will observe fasting tomorrow (Thursday) like previous years on the occasion of holy Shab-e-Barat.

After Iftar, she will visit the grave of her husband and BNP founder late president Ziaur Rahman on Thursday night.
