News - Dipu calls for closer bonds with IOM
Dhaka, July 5 (UNB) - Foreign Minister Dr Dipu Moni on Thursday called for concerted efforts by Bangladesh and International Organisation of Migration (IOM) to bring transparency and making migration development centric in order to ensure speedy achievement of development goals.

She said this when IOM Country chief Sarat Chandra Dash made a courtesy call on her at her office.

During the meeting, Dipu Moni appreciated the country chief for the institutional support to migration management in Bangladesh, particularly in dealing with the repatriation and reintegration of migrant workers from Libya last year, said a handout.

In response, Das thanked the Foreign Minister for the cooperation extended to his organisation by the government in performing his duties. He also briefed the Foreign Minister about the various activities undertaken by his organisation.

The Foreign Minister assured Dash of all cooperation and requested the IOM to continue providing support for promotion of safe and orderly migration in Bangladesh.
