2 UPDF activists held with arms in Khagrachhari

Khagrachhari, July 7 (UNB) – Two activists of United People’s Democratic Front (UPDF) were arrested along with arms and other materials from Kalapani in Guimara thana early Saturday.

The arrested were identified as Jahar Lal Chakma alias Mithun Chakma, 28, and Khitankchha Tripura alias Monoi, 22. Both of them are active members of UPDF.

Acting on secret information, a team of Sindhukchhari zone army raided the area and held them.

One foreign revolver, one foreign single-barrel gun, three bullets, olive-colour military uniform, toll collection receipt and other materials were recovered from their possessions.

The arrested were later handed over to local police.

Meanwhile, Niran Chakma, chief of publicity and publication section of UPDF, in a statement condemned the arrest of two of their activists and demanded their release.
