Two Bangladeshi golfers to take part in British Jr Open Championship

Dhaka, July 7 (UNB) - Two promising Bangladeshi golfers will take part in the British Junior Open Championship 2012 slated for July 16-18 at the Fairhaven Golf Club in Lancashire, England.

Tasvir Hasan Majumder and Lisa Akhter will represent Bangladesh in the prestigious International Under-16 Golf Championship on invitation from a leading golf body -- Royal & Ancient (R&A), St Andrews, Scotland.

The two Bangladeshi junior golfers will leave here for England on July 14.

Senior Vice President of Bangladesh Golf Federation and Delegate of the tournament Major General M Motiur Rahman disclosed this at a press conference here today (Saturday).

President of the Kurmitola Golf Club Handicap Committee and chief coordinator Brig Gen (retd) Selim Akhter, Secretary General of Bangladesh Golf Federation Brig Gen M Enayetullah and R&A Coach to Bangladesh Ian Je Peek were present on the occasion.

Kurmitola Golf Club is sponsoring the Bangladesh junior golf team comprising one boy and one girl in their first appearance in a heavyweight international junior meet.

A large number of junior golfers from eighty countries across the world are expected to participate in the Championship.
