Khulna, July 7 (UNB) - Communications Minister Obaidul Quader on Saturday called upon honest and meritorious people to join politics, else, dishonest people will capture it.

Addressing a reception, accorded to meritorious students, at Nagar Bhaban, Quader said if dishonest people became lawmakers they would ruin the country.

Hence, honest people are needed to purify politics, said Quader, who is in-charge of Railways Ministry.

Khulna City Corporation accorded reception to 1,554 students, who got GPA-5 in SSC and Dakhil examinations, from city’s 62 educational institutions this year.

City Mayor Talukder Abdul Khaleque, Vice Chancellor of Khulna University of Engineering and Technology Prof. Dr. Mohammad Alamgir, among others, were present at the function.

Addressing on the occasion, the minister assured that he would take steps so that Tk 84 crore, sanctioned in ECNEC meeting for development of local rail station, is released soon.
