
Kushtia, July 8 (UNB) – Communications and Railways Minister Obaidul Quader on Sunday said all roads of the district will be repaired before Ramadan for smooth traffic.
He made the announcement while visiting Kushtia-Chuadanga road in the morning.
The Minister censured the executive engineer of Kushtia Roads and Highways Department after detecting may big ditches and holes on the road.
He also stopped several buses and trucks on the road and checked driving licences and other documents.
Obaidul Quader tore off fake licences of two truck drivers and fined a number of other drivers for not having required documents.
Earlier, on Saturday night, the Communications and Railways Minister visited Kushtia Court Railway Station.
He expressed his dismay over the mismanagement at the station.
Obaidul Quader also ordered the General Manager of Bangladesh Railway to serve show-cause notices on Estate Officer of Poradah Kiran Chandra and Master of Kushtia Railway Station Mohasin Ali as most of the railway properties have been grabbed.
He also ordered the GM to take necessary steps to shift the rail track outside the district town to ease traffic congestion.
