Ajax SC tastes first victory in Premier Hockey beating Mariners 5-2

Dhaka, July 9 (UNB) - Ajax SC tasted the first victory in their 4th match of the Green Delta Insurance Metropolis Premier Division Hockey League with convincing 5-2 goals victory over Dhaka Mariner Youngs Club at the Maulana Bhashani National Hockey Stadium here on Monday.

With the day’s win, the Elephant Road outfit Ajax SC secured four points from four matches while Dhaka Mariner Youngs Club remained at six points, playing five matches.

Rahat Sarwar made a hat-trick scoring three goals, Ibrar Ahmed Babar and Faisal Hossain netted one each for Ajax SC while Mustafizur Rahman Lalon and Ashraful Islam scored one each for the Mariners.

In the day’s other match, Bangladesh Sporting Club registered a comfortable 5-1 goal victory over Police AC at the same venue this afternoon.

Indian recruit Gagandip Singh struck twice, Guru Janta Singh, Rakibuddin and Barkat Singh scored one each for the winners while Rana Das netted the consolation goal for the losers.

Tuesday’s matches: Abahani Limited vs Sadharan Bima KS (2:30 pm), and Mohammedan SC vs Ajax SC (4:15 pm).
