
Dhaka, July 10 (UNB) –The University Grants Commission (UGC) of Bangladesh will donate an amount of Tk 65 lakh for the construction of Padma Bridge.
The Commission took the decision at a special meeting at the UGC office on Tuesday with UGC Chairman Prof Dr AK Azad Chowdhury in the chair.
The meeting also congratulated Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina for taking the bold initiative to construct the Padma Bridge with country’s own resources.
UGC members Prof Dr Atful Hye Shibly, Prof Dr M Muhibur Rahman, Prof Dr Mohammad Mohabbat Khan, Prof Dr Abul Hashem, Prof Dr Akhtar Hossain, Dr M Khaled, Secretary, UGC, Dr Lutfe Alam, Director of Research Support and Publication Division, UGC, among others, were present at the meeting.
Meanwhile, a contract signing and fund disbursement ceremony between UGC and fund recipients of the concerned universities was held at UGC auditorium.
UGC Chairman Prof Dr Azad Chowdhury said that graduating students and faculty members of the tertiary level education needs to be exposed to the communities for economic growth and improvement of the society.
