Everest conquerors revived country’s image to some extent: Khaleda
She says Bangladesh’s future secure in young generation’s hands

Dhaka, July 11 (UNB) - BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia on Wednesday night said the Mount Everest conquerors have regained the country’s image to some extent with their personal achievements.
“These Everest conquerors have revived a little bit the country’s image tainted by various reasons,” she told a reception accorded to three Everest conquerors of the country, including two girls.
They are MA Mohit, Nishat Majumder, and Wasfia Nazrin.
“No matter what conspiracy is being hatched, the brave younger generation will save the country crushing that,” the opposition leader said.
Highlighting the success of women, Khaleda Zia said the women of Bangladesh are not lagging behind in any way. “They’re marching forward with their merit, skill and intellect… Nishat and Nazrin have proved that. Encouraged by them, the youth will come forward to enlighten the country’s image by taking up even more challenging jobs alongside their studies.”
The BNP chairperson said by hoisting the country’s flag at the summit of the Everest these conquerors have proved that Bangladesh’s future is secure in the hands of the young generation.
She told the Everest conquerors that her party is ready to extend all possible cooperation so that they could finish their unfinished tasks and thus achieve their desired goals.
Earlier, senior BNP leaders welcomed them with bouquets while Khaleda Zia presented them crests at the reception held at her Gulshan office.
Nishat scaled the Mount Everest on May 19 to become the first Bangladeshi woman to conquer the world's highest peak while Wasfia Nazrin is the second Bangladeshi woman to conquer Everest on May 26.
Mohit is the first Bangladeshi who reached the top of Everest twice. On May 19, he climbed the Mount Everest for the second time.
Musa Ibrahim scaled the Mount Everest as the first Bangladeshi on May 23, 2010.
