Dhaka, July 16 (UNB)-A court here on Monday sent four Chhatra League men, accused in Jahangirnagar University student Zubair killing case, to jail when they surrendered before the court.

The accused are-Nazmul Hossain, student of Public Administration Department, Kamruzzaman, of Philosophy Department, Mazharul Islam and Mohammad Mahmudul Hasan of History Department of Jahangirnaagr University.

When the four appeared before the court in the morning and appealed for bail Metropolitan Magistrate Wasim Sheikh sent them to jail turning down the bail prayers

Zubair Ahmed, an English Department student of Jahangirnagar University, was beaten by some BCL activists on January 8 and later succumbed to his injuries at United Hospital in the city on January 9.

A case was filed with Savar thana in this connection.

Mir Saheen Shah Pervez, a sub-inspector of Ashulia thana, submitted a charge sheet against 13 students of the university on March 5. Among the accused, Khandakar Ashik, Jahid Hasan, Mahbub Akram and Nazmus Sakim were arrested earlier and now in jail.

The court issued arrest warrant against nine students, including the four accused, on April 15.

Those who remained absconding are: Rashedul Islam, Khan Mohammad Rais, Ishtiak Mehbub Arup, Shafiul Alam and Abhinandan Kundu.
