Khulna, July 16 (UNB) –Transport owners and workers of 10 districts of Khulna division called off their indefinite strike on Monday night following a fruitful meeting with Rajbari deputy commissioner over their demands.

The decision came from a meeting between the transport owners and workers and the deputy commissioner of Rajbari  Shahana Bari at Rajbari DC office at 6pm, joint convener of transport owners and workers co-ordination committee Abdur Rahim Dudu said.

Earlier, transport owners and workers of Khulna division sit with Rajbari DC at his office to resolve the crisis at 3pm.

The transport owners and workers started the strike in the 10 districts of the division on Saturday to press home their six-point demand, including an end to extortion, irregularities and harassment to passengers and transport workers at Daulatdia Ferry ghat and reducing traffic jam.

Road communications between the 10 districts and other parts of the country will resume from Monday night as the strike has been withdrawn, said secretary of Khulna Bus-Minibus owners’ Association Anower Hossain Sona.
