2 drug peddlers arrested in Magura; Phensidyl recovered

Magura, July 17 (UNB) – Detective Branch (DB) of police arrested two alleged drug peddlers from Magura Bus Terminal in the town on Monday.

The detectives also recovered huge phensidyl.

The arrested are: Hassan, 25, son of Liakat Ali and Joynal, 35, son of Khadem Ali of Hajrakhali village of Chougachha upazila of Jessore district.

Magura thana OC Asaduzzaman Munshi said a patrol team of DB police conducted a drive and arrested the duo along with 124 bottles of phensidyl from a Nasiman (human hauler) at noon.

The drug runners smuggled into the country from India the contraband syrup and was on their way to Faridpur to sell them, police said.

UNB Dinajpur Correspondent adds, acting on secret information a BGB team raided Balarampur Bazaar in Hakimpur upazila early Monday and recovered 244 bottles phensidyl from a private car.

However, no arrest was made.

Phulbari BGB-40 Commander Lietenant Colonel Tayeful Haque confirmed the incident saying BGB also seized the car.
