
Dhaka, July 17 (UNB) - A woman was injured as a bomb she was carrying exploded near the Palli Karma-Sahayak Foundation (PKSF) Office in the city’s Agargaon area on Tuesday.
Police arrested two people in connection with the incident.
The injured was identified as Aysha Siddique, 32, a programme officer of Bangladesh Computer Council.
Jakir Hossain Molla, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Shere-e-Bangla Nagar thana, said that Aysha received injuries in her hand and waist as a bomb, kept in her hand bag, went off with a big bang while she was passing by the PKSF Office at about 11:30 am.
Later, she was rushed to Pangu Hospital.
During initial interrogation, Aysha told that Jobair, one of her colleagues, gave her a packet to carry it to her office when they met in front of Islami Foundation building near PKSF office. But she didn’t know what the object was inside the packet.
When she was approaching towards her office keeping the packet inside her vanity bag, the bomb was exploded, said a police officer.
Following her statement, police detained Jobair, who told police that he bought the bomb from a man--Nurul Islam--at Tk 20,000.
Later, police also arrested Nurul from Kazipara area in the city.
