ANKARA, July 17(AP/UNB) - A fire broke out in a high-rise building in Istanbul on Tuesday but officials said there were no casualties.
State-run TRT television showed black smoke rising from the 42-storey Polat Towers that is partly residential and partly occupied by shops and businesses. Smoke covered the sky.
Firefighters had largely contained the fire which had burned through the building's external wall insulation, fanned by winds.
Mustafa Sarigul, the mayor for the district of Sisli, where the building is located said no one was hurt in the fire.
