Dhaka, July 17 (UNB) – Teachers, officers and employees under the Education Ministry will contribute to the Padma Bridge fund to allow the country to build the bridge with its own resources.

Chairmen of all departments under the ministry will sacrifice one month’s salary while teachers, officers and employees of public educational institutions and staff under monthly pay order of private school, college and madrasa will sacrifice a day’s pay to the bridge fund.

The decision came at a meeting with the vice-chancellors of public universities and chairmen of all departments in the education ministry on Tuesday.

Education Minister Nurul Islam Nahid chaired the meeting.

Every institute should donate their money to the minister by a cheque, the meeting decided.

No student or student organisation in any university or college is allowed to collect money in the name of the fund without the approval of the university authority, Nahid said in reply to a question.
