News - CCHRB urges govt to construct Padma bridge with own fund
Dhaka, July 20 (UNB)–Coordinating Council for Human Rights in Bangladesh (CCHRB) has urged the government to construct Padma bridge with its own fund.

“The government should complete the construction of Padma bridge soon with its own fund for protecting the existence of own country by rejecting dependence on others and to create corruption-free culture in the country,” said CCHRB president AHM Nouman in a statement.

He also urged the government to disclose the report of ‘so called’ corruption in the project of Padma bridge construction after proper investigation.

Nouman urged the government to construct the Padma bridge by Public Private Partnership with the money collecting as levy, bond, surcharge, using black money, money of expatriates, businessmen, general citizens, labourers, farmers, job holders, politicians, and professionals.

Earlier, the CCHRB on Thursday formed a human chain in front of the National Press Club demanding construction of the Padma bridge with own fund of the country avoiding dependence on others’ fund.

Leaders and workers of different non-government organizations including 20 NGOs of the CCHRB joined the human chain programme.
