Cooperative Holiday Haat opens in city

Dhaka, July 20 (UNB) - A Cooperative Holiday Haat kicked off in the city’s Agargaon area on Friday to sell essentials to consumers in fair prices.

State Minister for LGRD and Cooperatives Jahangir Kabir Nanak inaugurated the haat near Samobay Bhaban.

A total of 32 cooperatives society have set up 58 stalls at the haat where chemical-free fresh fruits, vegetables, fishes, meat, rice, oil, sugar, salt and cosmetics will be available from morning till evening every day.

Inaugurating the haat, the State Minister said the government has taken an initiative to establish over 100 cooperative markets in all districts, including the capital, to protect the interests of producers and consumers as well as to reach adulteration-free food to people.

LGRD and Cooperatives Secretary Dr Mihir Kanti Majumder and registrar of Cooperatives Department Humayun Khaled, among others, were present.
