Pirates abduct 26 fishermen

Borguna, July 25 (UNB) - Pirates of Bay of Bengal abducted 26 fishermen and looted valuables from 25 fishing boats during fishing at the deep sea early Wednesday.

Pirates demanded Tk 1 lakh ransom for each abducted fishermen, the fishermen who reached Patharghata shore on Wednesday evening from the Bay said.

They said pirates came in a trawler, attacked the fishing boats and beat up them and looted fish, fishing-net, fuel and abducted 26 fishermen for ransom.

The pirates claimed themselves members of ‘Sagor’ gang.
