Prominent Ctg lawyer Kamaluddin Ahmed Khan passes away

Dhaka, Aug 1 (UNB) – Kamaluddin Ahmed Khan, a prominent lawyer of Chittagong, passed away on Wednesday noon at Surgiscope Hospital in Chittagong due to old age ailments. He was 85.

Khan is survived by wife, three sons and four daughters as well as many grand and great grandchildren, relatives, friends and a host of well-wishers.

His eldest son, Anis A Khan, is the managing director and CEO of Mutual Trust Bank Limited.

Khan’s namaj-e-janaza will be held tomorrow (Thursday) at 11:00am at Lal Dighir Maidan, Chittagong, and will be buried at Chaitanya Golli, Station Road.

Born on February 19, 1927, Kamaluddin passed his BA from Chittagong College in 1947 and obtained LLB degree in 1962 from Chittagong Law College.

He later enrolled as an advocate of the High Court, Dhaka, after passing the Dhaka High Court Chambership Examination in 1966. He became a very successful lawyer in Chittagong and subsequently enrolled himself as a member of the Supreme Court Bar Association.

A philanthropist by heart, Kamaluddin Ahmed Khan devoted his life to the service of people in every possible way.

In his early life, Kamaluddin founded the first Girls High School at Patharghata, Chittagong.  He was elected municipal commissioner twice, in 1952 and 1958.

He was the founding secretary general of Chittagong Central Eid Jamaat and Central Graveyard Committee, a role he passionately performed for over 50 years.
