7 women held with smuggled cumin, raisin

Brahmanbaria, Aug 3 (UNB) - Seven women were arrested along with huge quantities of Indian cumin and raisin from a train here on Thursday.

A mobile court led by executive magistrate Khairul Alam Sumon and assistant police super Rakib Khan conducted a drive and arrested them along with 501 kg of Indian dried grapes and 603 kg of Indian cumin from Dhaka-bound Chattrala Express train at the station in the evening.

The arrested were identified as Ferdousi Begum, 28, wife of Hasan Mia and Maleka Begum, 25, wife of Sahid Mia of Baro Bazar, Razia Begum, 30, daughter of Zaher Mia of Hirapur, Jarina Begum, 45, wife of Zakir Mia of Baganbari area, Jhuma Begum, wife od Alkas Mia and Pakhi Begam, 30, wife of Siddique Mia of Radhanagar village and Surji, 35, wife of Nuru Mia of Dakkhin Mourael of municipal area of Akhaura.

A case was filed with Sadar thana in this connection.
