25 injured in Madaripur clash

Madaripur, Aug 3 (UNB) - At least 25 people were injured in clashes between two rival groups of villagers over establishing supremacy at Gachhbaria village in Sadar upazila on Thursday. Police said there was a longstanding conflict between Fazal Matubbar and Harez Bepari of the village over establishing control in the area. Local people said an altercation ensued between the supporters of the two groups over the issue at about 5pm. Later, both the groups equipped with lethal weapons and sticks attacked each other, leaving 15 people injured from both sides.

As a sequel to their conflict both the groups again attacked each other at night, leaving 10 people injured from the both sides. On information, police rushed to the spot and brought the situation under control.
The injured were admitted to Sadar Hospital and Faridpur Medical College Hospital.

Confirming the incident, Sadar thana OC Maniruzzaman said police arrested two people in this connection.

A case was filed.
