3 killed in separate incidents in 24 hrs

Gazipur, Aug 04 (UNB) - Three people were killed in separate incidents in the district in the last 24 hours ending at 10 am on Saturday.

Imran of Jhakar village of Sadar upazila had a dispute over a piece of land with his nephew (son of his brother) Ratan since long.

In sequel to the dispute Ratan hacked Imran with a sharp weapon at the village leaving him severely injured at about 9 am on Saturday. He died on way to Sadar Hospital at about 10 am.

Police arrested Ratan.

In separate incident, a beheaded body of an unidentified youth, aged 22, was recovered from Turag River at Sakashwar village at Madhyapara union in Kaliakoir upazila at 11 am on Saturday.

Kaliakoir police who recovered the body suspected that miscreants might have dumped the body there after slaughtering him elsewhere sometimes between Friday night and early Saturday.

Meanwhile, a gang of muggers waylaid an employee of Amin Model Town in front of Bata Shoe Factory in Tongi on his way back to residence from his Ashulia workplace at 9:30 pm on Friday.

The gangsters mugged Khalilur Rahman and beat him indiscriminately as he tried to resist them, leaving him critically injured.

He died on way to Tongi Government Hospital at 10 pm.
